Will the new 60Gb harddisk be faster then the abnormal slow 40GB?

And will IBM release an higher resolution 12" (since sony gets WXGA at an 10" screen)

I've heard everything from $1.5K (highly unlikely!) to $3K (I hope not!).

Unfortunately, those who actually know aren't talking.

Always seems to be the case that the final piece of the puzzle isn't discussed. $1.5k does seem a bit low considering the X41 prices and $3k a bit high...i guess we'll find out

Very interested! Want this for school this fall.

Gripes:
* wish it had a higher res screen (no pixel is too small! just bump up text/icon size!)
* wish it had some way of outputting to DVI

These are the options I'd likely get:
Any processor (perhaps ULV 1.2)
1GB RAM
40GB hdd
Max vid RAM (don't know IGMA 900 well - does it use main ram or have its own?)
8 cell
fingerprint reader
802.11a/b/g & bluetooth

No need for big hdd (sync at home), real fast proc, wimpy 4 cell, X4 dock (unless it has DVI), or weak mobile connectivity.

Hope this won't cost more than low $2000s.

nick, i plan on upgrading mine to at least 1gb of ram. besides, its cheaper if you get non ibm ram, ibm "certified" or whatever ram is like 150$ for a half gig i think. at newegg.com it think it was like 80$.

ya i wish it had (or will have) a higher res, but i spose the res is fine for the screen size. i also wish it had 32mb vid ram, i know it will have less than that though.

oh well, hope it still pwns (and not pwns my wallet :()

never used X41/X40
i think IBM X41 regular edition is the best. IBM introduced X41 tablet to let HP and Toshiba know IBM is also there in the competiton. Still IBM tablet is far better than HP and Toshiba in terms of design, battery time and other technologies.

X41 Tablet
12.1” Screen
4.0 lbs, LV Processors, 8 Cell Battery (5.7 hours)

vs.

HP TC4200
Convertible
12.1” Screen, 4.6 lbs, NV Processors, 5.5 hours

Market and quality will proof whether Lenovo or HP or Toshiba will be the winner. I have begun to worry about the future of Lenovo from the recent chaos. I saw some online retailers are not with the new T43s. Definitely, Lenovos should work hard to improve their market share without losing the quality. But I don't think they will invest more money into design and quality, since they have already invested more money into the advertisement. The best hope is to stick with the old IBM standard. The X41 Tablet is from old IBM, wish it successful!

Apparently, those numbers are exactly right for the line. Models will start with Celerons.

Salman, we're discussing the tablet...which apparently may come with the celeron.

I haven't looked at benchmarks for Pentium-M based Celerons so I don't know how good they are, but if its $1,500 for one of those, a P-M 725/735 would still leave it at under $2k...not bad

I was informed yesterday by a reliable source that the base model of the X41Tablet will come with a Celeron processor.

Price will be sub$1500.

The way it was explained to me is that they felt the need to dumb down the base unit in order to meet a sub$1500 benchmark for entry level machines.

Not sure where they came up with that, but it definitely wouldn't apply to any ThinkPad weighing 3.5lbs. Light, yes, but not as light as the lightest X41
