Hard computer cases, any?

#1 Post by LordGop » Fri May 20, 2005 1:51 am

I have a Shinza sleeve right now and I like it, but I'd like the extra projection of a hard/stiff case. Is there any that will fit the x40 with an 8 cell? I've seen that mac truck one but it like its too big and that x40 would be banged up in that all metal beast. Thanks guys.

Is that Booq Bags viper any harder?

I have this one - Pataco CP-1

It fits my X40 with 8-cell battery well.
Let's go'n'restart :-)

try looking at the Pelican cases. They are waterproof cases for your latpop, custom fitted too!

Here is my usual plug for a Tom Bihn Brain Cell. Hard sides and a cradle bottom. Nothing better IMHO. Size 5 will fit the X40 with 8-cell just fine. Make sure you get a shoulder strap, too!

My personal favorite: http://www.radtech.us/Products/MacTruck.aspx
I'd imagine that the 12" powerbook fits the X40 well.

Yep I saw that, and thank you, but the only problem with that one is that it is made of Neoprene. Neoprene is what the one I have now is made of :D .

[censored] nice sleeve IMO, and previous posts here on the forum ascertained that it will fit an X40 with 8-cell battery just fine. Planning on buying one myself when I go and buy an X40/X41...

Well like I said in my first post, this is the sleeve that I have currently. It is very nice no doubt. Also this will fit the x40 with 8 cell no problem. But the thing about it is while the Neoprene is firm it is not hard ei. protecting from crushing forces. The Shinza sleeve is very nice, but I was looking for something hard, as in projecting from crushing/pressure forces more then impacting forces. The Shinza sleeve will do this but not as much as a hard case will.

EDIT: I think I'm going to end up going with the Tom Bihn Brain Cell and throw my notebook in there in its shinza sleeve if it will fit if not just the notebook. Then place that in my bags padded notebook pocket. Ummm am I going overboard lol
