X24 Few problems here and there... help!!!!*EDIT*

#1 Post by daeojkim » Fri May 20, 2005 8:46 pm

So I got myself an X24. I have encountered few problems. If anyone can help me I greatly appreciate it.

1. Trying to use Thinkpad software installer did not work because the BIOS does not have a serial number. Also the UUID number is all set with 0's. I have no idea how I should change this. Does anyone have a program that allows you to correct the system serial number in the BIOS?

2. I was trying to upgrade the BIOS with the no-diskette option. Now here is the problem. For some reason the battery information is messed up. I installed battery maximizer and it says full charge capacity is 655.55Wh (I wish!!), and it has 36.91Wh charged (This number looks correct). Temperature is 6280 C!!! Cycle 65535!!!. Remaining percentage is 6%. I know these numbers are not correct. But the computer does not know that. So when I try to update the BIOS it does not allow me to do so and tells me to go and charge the battery. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

I fixed this problem. I just unplugged, removed the battery and reconnected. It works fine now.

3. This is just a question for X2x owners. Does the keyboard rattle noticeably? May be I am used too much to T42 and A31 keyboard, but I think X24 keyboard rattles unresonably too much.

******
I think the cause of the rattling is due to lack of one of the screws for the keyboard. I will replace it and see how it goes

Thanks in advance.

Nothing should be rattling. Unscrew the keyboard and take it off. It may sound that one of the legs on the keyboard has come off (they are only held on by some adhesive).
