Do you get the same symptoms with the IBM provided DVD player?

Also, there may be a patch available on the IBM support site for your IBM provided player.

Hi!

I had the same problem, though I used Cyberlink Power DVD.
(x20 320ram)
My solution was installing the win version of the excelent mplyer software originally developed for linux.
You can get it here:

The interface is a bit spartan, but it plays everything (not just DVD-s but virtually all video files) without a glitch.

Do give it a try!

I had the same problem with an X-23. I was using an external DVD player that had a USB 2 interface. The problem was that the X-23 has USB 1. and it is too slow for the player. This problem occurred weather I played the movie from the external DVD player or first recorded to the hard drive and played from there. I inserted a USB 2 PCMCIA card into the X-23 and everything ran perfect after that.

slagmi,

Where can i get the player? I searched the ibm.com page but only found the dvdexpress upgrade which will only allow me to install if i have a previous version installed.

Belacqua,

Which file did you download? I installed the mplayer_setup_0-18-2_full.exe version. Tried to load a DVD but got a "media file not exists" error.

Slagmi,

I have both a external USB 2.0 DVD drive and the ultrabay dvd player. Both producting choppy results.

Hi jonliu,

That's it, it works for me. The error you get only happens on some disks, try choosing a number other than 1 from the dropdown "DVD title" under the DVD tab. 2 or 3 usually does the trick for me.
I never tried it on an external player though, just the one in the media slice.
The only drawback is, you dont see the menu just the main movie. Hopefully they'll correct this feature in the next release.

Good luck!

Only places I know of would be C:\ibmtools\apps directory on your hard disk or the software CD that shipped with the system

VideoLan can be quite slow for mpeg2 playback - and if you try and do de-interlacing it really bogs down. Try 'media player classic' that seems to work nice and smoothly on my x20, i seem to remember that I get free de-interlacing from the gfx chip as well.
