x41 with all the trimmings???

#1 Post by ziff73 » Tue May 31, 2005 2:07 pm

Greetings to all...

I am looking to purchase a thinkpad for business school and am curious as to what options I should look into.

I am thinking of the x41 2525-6HU (EPP price of 2,024)
-1.5GHz
-512 MB (will upgrade to 1GB)
-60GB HDD
-includes x4 Ultrabase dock w/ cd-rw/dvd-rom combo
-INTEL 2915 a/b/g + bluetooth

Now for the fun stuff...
I am thinking of keeping the ultrabase at school, and getting the x4 dock for home. At home I am thinking of getting a flat panel and wireless keyboard/mouse. Also a multiburner for home, can this go into the x4 dock? or should i get a standalone burner that is portable? ie not in a dock or ultrabase?

Anything else I am missing?

So:
What type of monitor would you rec? I think analog is my only choice of connection?
what keyboard/mouse would you rec?
multiburner?
misc?

My budget for these accessories ~1000-1500. for a total system purchase of ~3500. (max).

thanks for your input.

the X4 is the ultrabase.
and it uses a slim drive type.
with it attached, the x40 is still very portable, just thicker by a tad

as to monitors, get a 17-19" LCD cheap if you need one.
keyboard? logitech elite, mouse, logitech MX510.
