never tried the mic port till now

never tried the mic port till now, i just tried my mic port and found out it doesnt work i reinstalled the audio driver and checked all settings and 3 diffrent mics, u guys think i should just buy a usb mic or call up ibm n see if theres a service place around my area and bring it in there for repair any suggestions?
