big hands and the X40

#1 Post by superiorlobe » Mon Jun 21, 2004 12:02 pm

Anyone else have big hands and use the X40? Is there enough space to rest your hand in front of the keyboad? How concerned should I be about this issue? My hands are big enough to palm a basketball just barely -- not incredibly huge or anything.

I've got an X31 with big enough hands to palm a bball and the size is definitely not a problem, even the smaller backspace and enter keys. I think the keyboards on the X31 and 40 are virtually the same.

The following quote from a CNET review has me concerned:
The downside to the X40's small footprint is that there's not enough real estate on the base to rest your palms while typing, especially if you have large hands.

I do tend to find that after working on the X31 for a while, my hands tend to tire from being cramped on the smaller keyboard. If that's the concern, you have some ergo options. I've been using a small computer stand when I have the laptop at work that's helped quite a bit. You should be able to find other options online, but I ordered on of these:

The basic stand beter dissipates heat and keeps cables neat on your desk.
