x24 driver and bluetooth question

#1 Post by hoax32 » Tue Jun 07, 2016 2:01 pm

2 questions!
I am doing major surgery on the X22 doing an X24 MB swap since the RAM bank is faulty.
Is the bluetooth integrated on the motherboard?
Also the donor unit has a mini PCI card that comes back as GASKET-MINIPCI-COMBO CARD when looking up the FRU on it: 46L4908
Any idea what that card is and where to get the drivers?

Also any advantages on the X24 board vs X22 board besides CPU's?

Thanks!!

"Gasket Mini-PCI 802.11b Combo Card" is the wireless card.
In Linux I can't get that card to connect to most wifi hotspots perhaps because it can't handle modern [something..maybe encyption schemes or protocols, not sure what].
Also, when it does work, it's slow. You'll want to replace it with something a bit quicker - maybe an Atheros AR5008 which is BGN or Intel 2200bg.

See 'PCI/CB' here https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Atheros for more N or draft-N cards

Thanks for the response!
The surgery is over and the computer is in the IC recovery lmao
I have a modded 2200 in there right now was just wondering about that wifi card.
I knew it was a wifi adapter however the default X24 wireless drivers wouldnt work.
Broadcom had chip specific drivers but I jsut went with the 2200 instead with Wireless G and WPA2 support.

One problem with the X24 though, is that you can either have WiFi and Ethernet, or WiFi and Bluetooth... I don't know of any 802.11g or n combo Ethernet/WiFi cards to allow for all three (Ethernet goes in the daughter card slot, which is where Bluetooth would also go) :(
