Upgrading my X30

#1 Post by Kidzi » Tue Dec 06, 2016 6:51 am

Hello, I'm new here :D (Sorry for my simple english, it's not my native language)

I have a perfectly working X30 - 1,2 GHz, 760MB RAM, 80GB HDD Seagate Momentus, battery working up to 10 minutes  Mail archive since 2008, Diablo, UFO, OpenTTD and so on 8)

I was plannig to install an SSD drive, something like Transcend 330 IDE - as it's the best way to speed things up. And then I found out, that you can actually replace X30 motherboard with X31 motherboard. 1,7GHz, 2GB RAM, Radeon 7000 and new SSD - that sounds great 8)

I'm currently looking for motherboard, RAM is cheap, SSD would be the only bigger investment.

Any tips with motherboard replecement ?

Has anyone tried an IDE SSD, like Transcend 330 ?

I like my X30 very much and I'm trying to use it as long as it's possible, but many websites are so slow ... And it's no fun buying newer X201

Welcome to the Forum.

There are quite a few X31 motherboards for sale on eBay.
For the "How to", click on the HMM link at the top of this page, to download the X30 illustrated manual.
For an IDE SSD, this also applies to your X30/X31: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=106749
