kinda new here but making the jump from Dell(college notebook) to IBM (soon to be Grad school notebook)
I have never upgraded the RAM in any machine. That being said I am going to buy the x41 tablet with the base RAM which is 512k.(there is only one listed in the EPP website)
Question: Does that base system come with the one 512k ram module soldered in, leaving one open ram slot where I can insert a 1 gb ram card.
Question: Does anybody know the exact type of RAM I would need, 240 pinn,200 pin etc... and where I could buy it. (link would be greatly apreciated)
Question : Last question, Is it simple to install?
Thanks everybody in advance.

It would be a PC2-4200 SODIMM (200 pins, but make sure it's DDR2 - anything that is PC2 is DDR2).
So, here's Newegg's selection of 1GB PC2-4200 SODIMMs
I've never installed RAM on an X series (I'm about to in a couple of days, though), but when I put RAM in my Dell, it was pretty simple. The door unscrewed on mine. Then, I pulled the tabs on each side of the SODIMM that I wanted to take out (you won't need to do that - the 512MB in the X41 Tablet is on the motherboard), lifted it up to a 45 degree angle, and pulled it out. To put the new module in, I lined it up with the socket (it only goes in one way - look at the notch), put it in at a 45 degree angle, and pushed it down. Then, I screwed the cover back down, and booted up.

2) 200 pin 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM PC2-4200, non-ecc, unbuffered; http://newegg.com currently is selling a 1GB Transcend memory module with a lifetime warranty for about $114 shipped.
