PS/2 Adapter for keyboard on X3 Ultrabase?

#1 Post by kadf88 » Thu Jun 16, 2005 2:38 pm

It says on the IBM info page for X3 ultrabase that I need some sort of adapter to get a ps/2 keyboard to work in the ps/2 port of the X3?
Where do i get such an adapter?

I have myself tried to plug a keyboard in that ps/2 port without any luck.

thanks in advance.

Yeah on the X3 you still need the PS/2 y-cable - FRU number 54G0444

This is no longer the case with the X4 ultrabase for X40 series though.

Have you thought about using a USB Mouse/Keyboard via a hub or a cheap ps2 mouse/keyboard to usb converter (cyberguys.com)? I wonder if that'll work? I rarely use the X3 base, and If I do I just use the laptops keyboard. I pop the X32 into an older dock that takes both ps/2 mouse/keyboard. But I connect via a KVM that translates my ps2 mouse and keyboard to USB. Works great!
