Windows XP Tablet Edition ISOs

#1 Post by bhove » Sun May 21, 2017 5:08 pm

So just recently I purchased an x41 tablet, a childhood dream. I wanted one since I was six but my parents weren't too happy about the $2000 price tag
Anyway, the machine I bought is perfect except it does not have Windows XP. I was wondering if anyone out there had any drivers, installation files, or even full ISOs of Windows XP Tablet Edition. It would be greatly appreciated and would certainly make my life easier.

Please note that I do still have the Windows XP Tablet Edition key, just no Installation media.
I also have a retail disc of Windows XP Professional. If I installed that, is there any way to upgrade it to obtain the Tablet Edition features?

Thank you so much, any replies at all would be awesome.

Welcome to the forum!

I suggest posting a WTB (want to buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace, it's extremely likely that someone will come to your rescue.

If you're interested in another one, I was actually just going to put up my X41T.
It has a 60GB hard disk with complete XP-Pro/SP2 Tablet already installed.
You could make a backup and/or copy it onto your own disk.

X41 Tablet (1866-EG3)
P M 778(1.6GHz)LV, 1.5GB RAM, 60GB 4200rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 900, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Tablet 2005

As described above, this X41T is in excellent condition, has no scratches or dead pixels, and comes with two genuine IBM 8-cell batteries in green, a genuine IBM 56W charger, plus the stylus.
Since you're in PA, I'd sell it to you for $90 incl. shipping.
Let me know if interested.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

PS: the old Boardroom website is still available on the Wayback Machine

Actually I am having a little trouble restoring. I put the boot disk on a flash drive, and it boots the utility and works fine, but when I click ok to let it delete all the files and wipe the hard drive I get the error "Failed in convertion phase."
As far as I know, "convertion" isn't even a real word, so I'm pretty confused what this means.
I'm posting this publicly in case anyone else is having trouble with restoring a thinkpad.
