X220 - windows 10 drivers for SD Reader vanish

#1 Post by pellicle » Mon May 29, 2017 9:57 am

Hi

I have downloaded the lenovo drivers for the Ricoh SD reader, and frequently when I've rebooted they cease to operate ... reinstalling is getting painful.

Is this a known problem with Win10 or is there a better / newer driver set somewhere?

Thanks
Chris Eastwood

1) Which specific driver did you install?

2) What do you mean by 'cease to operate'? Is there a particular error message? Does it show as 'unknown device'?

on installation the InstallShield Wizard reports it as:
RICOH_Media_driver_v2.22.18.01

I mean simply that one day (after a few restarts) it just ceases to operate. No message.
When its operating "normally" I insert and SD card (say, from my Camera) and there is an event sound and then after a short while the drive becomes available in explorer

After some days this does not happen (and the drive is never visible). No event sound occurs at this time.

I forgot to check if Device Manager shows the Storage Controller anymore ... I'll report back on its next failure.

Maybe in Device Manager there's a setting to switch off power if not used?
UNdo that setting, see if that helps

it just did it again ... I'd taken a look around device manager before (taken a screen snapshot).

looked again after it was "silent" ... nothing apparent

installed the driver again, looked ... again, nothing obvious.

Is there anything like lsaspi that I can use to make a text file I can compare with?
