Please help me fix "8611" error

#1 Post by Tyler » Fri Jun 24, 2005 12:12 am

:?: :?: :?: I own an IBM thinkpad 600X that i purchased used. It has been working fine until one day my mouse icon started going crazy and my trackball stopped working. When I restarted my computer I was brought to a big ERROR screen, where my mouse icon was a bird that went only left and right. I soon found a way to get by this, I press ESC. then at a new screen (this one has 8611 crossed out pointing to a computer pointing to an IBM manual) at this screen I press F1. It then logs meon to my normal windows system. I bought an external mouse since my trackball no longer functions and everythings working fine. But everytime I log on to my computer i have to go through the above procedure which is really annoying, and certain programs wont work anymore. Also, I cannot reformat my computer or do other thingd that I need to do upon bootup since the error comes on automatically *Im running under windows2000 and i reformat by restartingmy computer with the windows disc in the drive so that i can access it before windows loads) After doing alot of research on this problem, i learned that I can stop this error from occurring by disabling my trackball. I found a link to a software installer thing that would letme disable it, but it didnt work on my type of thinkpad. Ive also read other peoples instructions on disabling my trackball or fixing this error, but I couldnt understand any of it. PLEASE ANYBODY, if you have an idea how i can stop this pesky 08611 error I would be extremely grateful.
:) Thanks - Tyler
