How to setup multiple ultrabase docking profiles for X40

#1 Post by chintapun » Tue Jun 22, 2004 9:26 pm

Dear TP Board Member

Since my desktop computer has recently died on me. I have been planed to set up a mobile system for my office and my home with 1 notebook to minimise cost and headache in dealing with mutiple computer and file transfer issues

My plan is to buy 2 X4 ultrabase dockings for my X40. My intention is to use 1 docking at my office with IBM USB keyboard, USB mouse, Ultrabay CD-RW drive, external Monitor and connected to Office LAN.

The other X4 docking will be used at my home with 2nd harddisk for backup and storage (80GB), IBM external USB mutiwriter (For Mobile usage as well), external monitor, keyboard, USB mouse, attached printer, and USB ADSL Modem

Hence, I wonder whether it is possible to set my X40 profile to automatically recognised different profile set up for each docking settings and seperate profile for mobile use without any attachment equipment. As my job required me to use computer most of the time in different places, I need to be able to switch X40 profile easily when using it in different places e.g. office, home, meeting room, and etc.

I would be mostly grateful if anyone can advise me on how to set profile seting in my X40 accordingly.

Thank you again in advance

Chin

Thank you for your advise. It is an interesting approach that i haved been overlooked. However, I think this approach may have some limitation regarding some data that is allocate per user e.g. my doc folder or favourite. I have heard that there is a way to set XP profile setting that I can change all setting with it. Any word of advises are welcome.

Thank you again for your suggestion

Chin
