How about Seagate Momentus 5400.2 (80 Gt, 5400 RPM)?
What harddrive to X31?
What harddrive to X31?
What harddrive would you suggest to replace that orginal 40GB? I need bigger, and I don't mind if new HD would be faster too

Most folks here like the Hitachi 7K60. That's the 60GB 7200rpm model that's proven to be quite good and reliable with ThinkPads. I had one in both an X31 and a T40 and they were a HUGE improvement over the stock 4200rpm drives.
I sold all my T's and my X31's, so now I have FOUR of those 7K60 drives (the two I used and my two spares) sitting here with no laptops to put them in as I switched to X41's. The drives have very little use on them, especially the spares, and they test perfect, but they don't have any warranty remaining so I'm hesitant to sell them. I'll likely keep them for externals, or in case I get the itch to get another T series.
But that's the model I'd go with if I were in your position. Just one guy's opinion.

Seagate makes a 100GB 7200 rpm drive. I've had no experience with it mind you, and I know the Hitachis are decent drives.nolifer wrote:I had one of those 7K60 in my last laptop, AOpen 1557G.
Are others manufacturers about to release new 2,5" and 7200rpm models? Other opinions than 7K60 or other recommendations

That looks interesting. And Seagates' hds have been good from what I've heard. Any idea how long warranty (in Europe/Finland) will be?ibmuser wrote:

No idea, but you should be able to check with Seagate. Found a review of the 100GB 5400 rpm drive herenolifer wrote:That looks interesting. And Seagates' hds have been good from what I've heard. Any idea how long warranty (in Europe/Finland) will be?ibmuser wrote:
