How to apply the no 1802 patch on X41
How to apply the no 1802 patch on X41
Hello
In order to install a TP-Link WN861N (Atheros) WiFi card I need to do the no 1802 patch. The current BIOS info of the X41 (CPU-Z results)
Brand: IBM
Version: 74ET57WW (2.02)
Date: 09/28/2005
I've downloaded the patch ISO at:
https://ia801509.us.archive.org/11/item ... TAV134.zip
I've noticed that there was no README file with it. Anyway I've burned it into a 2GB USB stick using the Rufus (on a Windows 7 box) and decided to go on.
I've plugged in the USB stick and selected it as the boot drive then came a full screen page full of text everywhere. Then it said something line "no INSERT" and I couldn't apply any patch.
How to correctly apply this patch? If you know some tutorial or forum link it's too ok. Thanks.

You'll need to run that from within windows (XP or W7), not via USB/ISO/CD

Thank you for the comment. The downloaded .iso image expands into these:RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 12:52 pmYou'll need to run that from within windows (XP or W7), not via USB/ISO/CD
drwxrwxrwx 1 x41 None 0 2005-10-03 boot
-rw-rw-rw- 1 x41 None 2048 2006-02-21 boot.catalog
-rwxrwxrwx 1 x41 None 87 2005-12-16 build.bat
drwxrwxrwx 1 x41 None 0 2006-02-21 images
drwxrwxrwx 1 x41 None 0 2006-01-25 isolinux
-rwxrwxrwx 1 x41 None 128512 2004-10-11 mkisofs.exe
When the the mkisofs.exe as seen there run within Windows it doesn't work. cdshw.com inside the boot folder does work but it says "error: file not found"
I do these without having read a README because there's no README.

That zip-file includes Winphlash.
Don't know where you got the .iso from, that's not part of that download.

It turns out you're correct. After I redownloaded that zip I got that zip file again then I noticed that Winphlash you mentioned. I must have got that .iso from the same page which had that zip file. Now it's ok, I've followed the instructions of Winphlash and it successfully burned the new BIOS image. Thanks a lot.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 9:04 amThat zip-file includes Winphlash.
