Installing RAM Questions

#1 Post by usccharles » Tue Jul 12, 2005 11:55 pm

Hello,

I own a T42 and just ordered my X41 Tablet. i'm buying memory separately. I want to install a 1gb memory my self (too expensive through IBM) on both my T42 and X41 but i'm a hardware-install virgin and i need help!

1) which screws am i supposed to loosen on the notebook to install the memory? any pics/links both T42 and X41.

2) is there any setup procedures i have to go through once i boot the computer with the new memory installed, or is it pretty much plug-and-play, stick the stick in, boot the computer and i'm all done kind of thing?

sorry if the question seem obvious and stupid, but i'm a virgin!!

thanks :-)

Check the Lenovo web site -- they have helpful videos of the common installation steps. It shows some guy (maybe a virgin, maybe not) doing the steps you have to do. It doesn't get any easier.

On the T42, you remove one screw, open the hatch, slot the new memory card into position, put the hatch back, put the screw in. When you boot, it greets you with new memory. No settings.
