Article on the X41T in Japan

#1 Post by vagabond » Mon Aug 01, 2005 2:15 pm

In the "Off Topic" forum there was a thread (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=13673) about a yummy thinkpadesque cake (http://www.itmedia.co.jp/news/0311/29/nj00_tp_new.html), but off to the side is a link to an article about the X41T. It's an interview with "The Japan brand & the marketing charge execution official (at that time) Arakawa Tomomi" who talks about the early development of the X41T (we didn't think it would sell in Japan), the concept (tabletPC of ThinkPad design), and the timing of the Windows XP TabletPC edition release in 2002. It looks like IBM was thinking about the tablet for a while.

My summary is seriously lacking since I got this from a (marginally) translated version of the interview through BabelFish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/). The article itself is at http://www.itmedia.co.jp/pcupdate/artic ... ws002.html Can anyone give us a better translation?

Dan.
