Resurecting old X23

#1 Post by zhruskar » Sat Aug 06, 2005 12:00 pm

Well it's finally happend....
After years of using my trusty X23 (bought as a refurbished machine model 2662-EGU) I got the dreaded NTLDR is missing msg.
Clearly the hard disk has bit the dust but now I'm faced with a dilemma...
The press F11 to envoke IBM recovery simply gets to the same msg.
Should I even contemplate a hard disk swap?
Any way to attempt to rescue the current disk and the files on the disk?
What are the appropritate 30-40MB drives that might be used for the swap and where can one get them for a reasonable price?

I'm sure others have been faced with a similar dilemma, and I'd love to hear about their journey to recovery and if it was worth the pain involved.

No, I'm ashmed to admit I do NOT have a recovery disk!?

You needn't be ashamed to admit not having recovery CDs, most folks don't.

But, if you meant you don't have a BACKUP of your system and files, then you deserve to feel ashamed!

Any decent current HD will fit in your X series machines, check zipzoomfly.com and newegg.com for a size and price that meets your needs.
