EZ Serv and Warranty Expiring Soon

I'm sending in my X30 for a new motherboard, per this thread:

This is the first time I've had any problems with my TP, and the 3 year warranty ends in October. Will the new motherboard have a new warranty on it? I'm afraid that IBM will put in a bad piece of hardward and something will happen in November when the machine is out of warranty. What's the situation here? Thanks!

After october, you're on your own. Unfortunate, but true. This only applies to the original part (not the replaced part).

I don't know for certain, but I believe that repair parts are warranty'd until the end of the warranty period or 90 days, whichever is later. Check the papers that come back with ThinkPad.

In the Europian Union here is this rule. You have some warranty on the work and replaced part. But for a couple of months only - 3 months. In the USA there must be similar rule.
