Do all X31s come with 256mb soldered onboard? X31 vs T42

Or is it the X40 that comes with embedded memory? I'm confused.

What's the difference between the 26725KU $2789.10Cdn, and the 26725ZU $2924.10Cdn (both with Visa savings 10% applied)?

The specs look the same, yet the latter model costs more?

IBM is somewhat confusing with their model layouts, with X40 and X31 criss crossing on the same page. Same with T40, T41, and T42s on the same page. Not much of a hierarchy. There must be a simplier way of browsing through the various models.

Notice some errors as well, where on the main page some models show 1GB memory, yet when you go into details it shows as only 256MB?

How long into the order can one cancel out of it? Placed an order with the T42 2 days ago and got the initlal email confirmation. Was told by CSR previously it would take 2 weeks to stock. So safe to assume I still have time? I didn't register before I ordered, so can't track its status via the webpage.

Pondering whether I should go with the X31 P-M 1.6/1.7Ghz 512mb 40GB model instead of the larger sibbling. The X31 would be more within my budget at 2/3 the price of the T42.

Laptop is going to be used at home for web surfing, dvd watching, svcd conversion. Gaming would be a plus, but not neccessarily. I often watch DVD at night on my bed, so dunno if I want to lug with me an X3 Ultra Base or an external USB2 CDRW/DVD. Visually, it'd be a downgrade viewing DVD from 1400*1050 down to 1024*768 res.

There's a X31 P-M 1.3Ghz 256mb 20GB for only $1499Cdn clearance. Do you think for the tasks I've mentioned, this config is up to speed?

I think I'm at a point where I should just flip a coin and forget about it :D

My X31 comes with socketed, not soldered, 256Meg of ram. I pulled the ram it came with, and added 2 512meg pieces. I love my X31 but of course laptop choice is a very personal thing.
