Power Manager

#1 Post by pphilipko » Sun Aug 28, 2005 11:17 pm

The power manager seems to be compatible with the X40...what a nice upgrade from Battery Maximizer! :)

After several days of use, I can confirm that there's no compatibility issues with the X40. 8)

Interesting. I wonder why they would say that it isn't comp with the X40 when it seems it is.

*bump*

Anyone else using Power Manager on the X40, even though it is not supported?

And I've been using Power Manager for over 8 months now with no issues whatsoever.

DavidNZ, don't worry too much about the compatibility issue. Installing it won't cause your laptop to spontaneously combust.

I don't suppose there is a ghost of a chance for the X31?

Hmmm...ok, have installed it (and removed Battery Maximiser) but just watching just how 'adaptive' the CPU setting is when on AC power. Mine's cranking along at full CPU power when the only things open are Outlook and Firefox.

Actually, something strange is going on.

I did a system restore back to before PM was installed, so I'm back to where I was with the latest Batt Max installed.

I've always had both the battery and AC settings to run the CPU on adaptive, but now, even with just Firefox open, according to my System Properties, I'm cranking along at full steam (1.2Ghz).

If I change the AC CPU properties to "low", it throttles back to 597Mghz. If I switch it back to adaptive, it runs full steam all the time.

I'm confused.

OK, may have figured it out. Using CPU-Z, I see 598. When I go to system properties, as it is bringing up the window that will tell me the speed of the CPU, I watch CPU-Z and note a brief spike to 1200 just as the system properties window appears. Then, according to CPU-Z, the speed of the processor drops back down to 598.

Odd. Am about to search around to see how accurate CPU-Z is. I read somewhere here that Mobile Meter isn't accurate for freq reporting.

CPU-Z is much much more precise than system properties.
When you go to system properties, usually the cpu will go up (a bit or more, depends) and stupid system properties will show that speed.

Cpu-z will check the speed without changing it... More usefull heh?

Stupid system properties ...
