external USB- hdd on X41T

I have problems using a 2.5' HDD in an external USB device from Myson Century

I can plug in the device, however the device shows a driver problem. when I update the driver (disc. Sys), the offered driver on CD is rejected (message "driver contains no Size information about your connected device ") . Then, the X41T uses driver disk.sys but does not show the HDD in Explorer (My computer). No device problem at that point but only after 5 mins or so the disc all of a sudden runs up with "autoplay" and then shows in Explorer

Uninstalling doesn't help. Any idea how to proceed from here?

Did some more testing and the issue exists on other computers as well - not an X41T related effect.
