New X40 but how do I install programs?

#1 Post by ipXpert » Sun Jul 04, 2004 11:29 pm

I just purchased an x40 and a t42 but I didnt buy an external cd drive for my x40 since I ran out of cash. Is there any way I can load programs on my x40 by using the cd drive on my t42?

Thanks,

You can rip the .isos, transfer them over your network, and use something like DaemonTools to mount it. That's what I would do. Or borrow a friend's USB drive.

You could buy a cross-over ethernet OR a cross-over USB cable and establish a simple Windows network. I've never tried it myself, but i'm told it works fairly easily. Just make sure to share the optical drive on the T42.
