X40 Won't play DVDs

#1 Post by admsteiner » Sun Oct 23, 2005 6:12 pm

Hey,

Have an X40 with the IBM powered USB combo drive. Unfortunately, DVD's won't play. When using Windows media player or another player, I get an error that the resolution is set too high and it, along with the color depth should be lowered.

When trying to play the DVD at 8x6 with 16bit color, up to 1024x768 with 32bit color, and in between, it doesn't work, I get the same error. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Adam

In my experience, this is either a codec problem or a Direct X problem.

Make sure that you are using the latest version of DirectX. You can download the latest version from Microsoft's website.

Also, you can try using this codec pack (K-Lite):

Didn't work, but I just realized this doesn't belong in the X-Series forum, rather, it should be in the Windows forum.
