video driver on X30 problem

alright so i have a ibm thinkpad X30
i installed a fresh copy of XP
everything works fine so i proceeded to install the device drivers
i got everything installed except for the video and monitor(internal lcd) drivers
right now it shows up as generic video and generic monitor

I got the correct driver from the ibm website
however when i try to update or install it
i get an error saying that access is denied. i tried the same after logging in as admin too and no dice there
I tried everything, safe mode, uninstalling the device and trying to install it manually

how can i get it to install the driver?
