IBM X41 Tablet battery life is low ?!

#1 Post by Kogi » Thu Oct 27, 2005 6:48 pm

I have a new X41 Tablet machine , but my battery survives only for 1:45 hour.
Is it okay ?
I checked on IBM site and it says that 4 cell battery should work for 3.5 hours , how could I know what kind of battery is installed on my Tablet ?

thanx !!

i never had a battery last as long the manufacturer states. they are liars. i guess you can close down nearly all the services and get close to the states life span, but is that anyway to compute?

It doesn't help ...
I read some reviews about this Tablet from non-IBM guys and they all talking about great battery life of X41 , this is very strange for me ..

Do anyone here in this forum have X41 Tablet and can provide his input ?

thanx !!

I don't have 4 cells battery but my 8 cell can power the copmuter for more than 5:30 hours when using medium level brightness, no wifi/BT, lowest CPU voltage and speed and no external devices (such as CDROM or mouse).

If you do all (or part of) these steps you may have more battery time.

The manufacturers data is true only when using the lowest power settings, and the battery is completely new.

It all depends what you are doing with the machine during that time. All battery lifespan ratings are very subjective, as they are measured the same way across the industry, which is likely never the way you will actually use yours. From my personal experience, I get a bit over 2.5hrs on the 4 cell, but typically travel with 2 8 cells instead which give me all day computing with it.

Such reviews were usually done on models with an 8 cell battery.
