Looking for CPU Monitor applet for x23

#1 Post by GpsPasSion » Mon Oct 31, 2005 5:56 am

Just picked up a used x23 as a backup for mu x31 and I found this great little "pop up" CPU monitor app linked from a thread here the other day, but alas my HD crashed and now I can't find it anymore (after spending two hours looking for it!) . I hav mobmeter but it seems to only show 533 or 866 speeds while the other one showed the CPU speed moving anywhere between 172 and 866. Anyone see what that "little app that could" be ?

On the other hand I thouht that PIII's were only capable of two speeds so maybe that app was not reporting correct numbers ;-)

Well, if you were seeing 172 (and it was actually at 172 MHz), your CPU was extremely overheated, and it was in emergency throttle mode.

Centrino Hardware Control can monitor CPU speed, and has a temperature display to boot.

No it wasn't, just idling so I'm thinking that this nice little app was maybe not reporting the proper speed. Will try that other one, but I really liked that small .exe and I don't like the fact that I can't find it anymore!

What speeds are you seeing on your X21? Two speeds or a broad range?

Normally, two speeds, 500 and 700MHz.

I've seen 380MHz when it was extremely overheated, though (I was testing temperatures, checking to see whether it would overheat).

thanks, makes sense, I guess that other utility was not reporting the proper speed, I've found another one that reports odd numbers Throttle Watch http://www.panopsys.com/Downloads.html if you want to give it a try.
