X40 ram upgrade

#1 Post by Bman » Tue Nov 01, 2005 7:09 am

Will the X40 take 1 GB sodimm? (corsair VS1GSDS333)

My x40 has 512 mb and one sodimm slot empty.

IBM site says 1 GB will work?

I've got a Kingmaxx 1gb module in my empty slot. I don't see any reason why the Cosair won't work.

Hope that helps.

A 1GB SODIMM will most definitely work on a X40.

No. For example PC100 and PC133 SODIMM's are 144-pin.

Ah - i see. So a PC2100 or PC2700 will be 200 pin. Makes sense.

Sure there is, it kinda compensates for the slow hdd, since now windows can store more files in the faster ram :)

I upgraded from 512MB to 1GB and I noticed a speed increase, particularly when XP starts.
