The price of thinkpad is quite strange. T42 is more (or a little)expensive
than T43. X40 is not cheaper than x41.
Can anybody explain why?
why X40 is not cheaper than x41?
why X40 is not cheaper than x41?
I like thinkpad since 2001.

From my experience with IBM (and now Lenovo) it seems they never actually reduce the retail prices of models when newer models (seemingly) replace them. They just stick around until the demand goes away. If I'm a business with loads of T42's or X40's and I have RAM or other parts, and more importantly disk images specific for either (or both) of those platforms I'm not willing to buy the newer model just because it's newer or faster as then I'd have to support another platform. Too much trouble and expense. Older models will stick around, and in the case of the X40 continue to be improved, as long as the demand warrants it. Besides, as I see it there is nothing about a T43 or X41 that is making the majority of IT departments salivating to upgrade to those platforms from the T42/X40 (which are still fantastic machines).

I'm not in sales, but I would suspect that the pricing never changes on the older machines in order to encourage people to buy newer technology as it comes out. You are much more likely to drop coin on a new machine than on an older machine for a higher price.
