You might want to try removing components one at the time to see if anything specific is causing the problem. I pulled up your Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) to look at the Beep Symptoms, but 9 beeps aren't listed. Use your HMM to guide you through removing each part, such as the battery, RAM, CMOS, etc. Hopefully, it might be minor. If not, it might be the system board.

Also, try attaching it to an external monitor when you boot it, to see if you get any kind of onscreen post message, incase the screen is bad as well.

P.S. You might want to tone the language down a tad. It tends to make people less likely to help.

P.S.S. Welcome to the Forum :D :D :D

Forgot to add the link to your HMM:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 4p2975.pdf

Sorry about the additional post, but I tried to edit my first post, but it kept timing out on me.

Right ..ive searched the web with the following keywords my x22 is insleep mode beeps nine times...apparently it could be one of the following

rom/bios checksum failure or
display/retrace test failure or
first 64k ram chip/data line failure

does anyone know what these mean.

If the seller gave you several days to return it, then perhaps you should return it!

did he sold the item as tested? Because this is something you must notice when testing.

If I where you I would ask him to send me a new (and beter ) dimm at his expense, because he failed to sell a good product.

Failure to so would result in negative feedback.

But thats just me...

and maybe he sold it as unstested, if so, then he did notting wrong, but if he did not do that i would certainly ask compensation :)

Did you try the memory again? Sometimes during shipping the memory might jog loose. Try reseating it, as it might be fine.
