Additional Battery / External Battery

#1 Post by akao » Thu Dec 15, 2005 6:57 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have an extra battery for their laptop or use an external battery pack?

I'm trying to figure out the best bang for the buck and it seems like additional laptop battery will require a special battery charger (how else would it connect?) So I've started looking at external battery packs. They seem to be quite bulky, but provide the best bang for the buck.

What's your experience? What's a good place to get cheap batteries (x40)?

Cheers.

Just get another internal battery for your x40 and when your first battery gets low hibernate the thinkpad and swap batteries.

That'd be better in my opinion than carrying around an external battery.

Charging it is the annoying part. I have to plug in my laptop, wait until the first is charged, swap it out with the second one and charge that. Or spend more money on the extra battery charger.

Charging is just the downfall of having batteries, period.

Try charging them in the laptop overnight, before you plan on using them, and then you will have both of the ready when you are.

You could of course go the route of an external charger, but you still have to charge it regardless...except atleast you can charge two at the same time.

With the extended battery (the wedge) it charges at the same time as the main cell with no swapping. I use that setup on my X32 and get 10 hours of use and a full charge overnight.
