I hope this is a pretty good deal

#1 Post by sneakyazn » Sat Dec 31, 2005 6:48 am

I have the opportunity to purchase an X41 tablet for 1500. The model number is 18666SU. It seems the important specs are:

fingerprint reader
bluetooth/a/b/g
60gb hard disk
slim ibm usb 2 cdrw/dvd

it has been used for 3 months and has warranty until 9/2008. $1500 seems like a great deal to me, but I'm not too familiar with the different models/configs. Also, does the X41 and T41P use the same memory? I'm trying to decide if I should strip one of the 2GB of RAM that I'm using in my T41P before I sell it. Any input would be appreciated.
X41T - 1866-6SU
1.5 GHZ
1.5GB RAM
802.11A/B/G
Bluetooth
Fingerprint reader
60GB 4200RPM HD
IBM USB 2.0 CDRW/DVD

No idea about the prices, as I´m not familiar with the US market. The RAM cannot be swapped, though, as the X41 series uses DDR2-RAM, not the DDR of the earlier models.

Hi sneakyazn,
I suppose your needs have changed greatly and you now need a stand-up mobile solution? I mention this since although the purchase seems like a nice price you are going backwards in most every other spec to trade for that form factor, and won't likely be able to break even on the T41p sale end. If the need is there go for it. If not, keep the T41p. A deal is a deal only if you have a use for it (or know one who does), although I wish I could listen to my own advice here!!!

As the other poster said the RAM isn't interchangeable.

Good Luck with your purchase.

Call me crazy, but afaik 2gb is a no go.

The X40 (owned one) had 512mb or 256mb (in my case 512mb) onboard.
And had 1 "one" free memmoryslot... so the max should be 1.5Gb

And that whas correct afaik, because my manual says max 1.5Gb.

So unless the X41T has 2 memslots... 1.5Gb it is ;)

Yes... I love the X-series.

I think this is known already.

sneakyazn never mentioned using 2GB of RAM. Nowhere. He/She was asking if they should "strip one of the 2GB of RAM" currently in a maxed out T41p. If the RAM were compatible that would have been a good move, but alas it's not. I felt it was a good question.

sneakyazn also never even mentioned how much RAM the tablet has currently either, but it's likely the base 512MB with one slot free which was why the question was asked in the first place. sneakyazn was just asking for feedback on striping out one RAM stick.
