X20 LCD display probs

#1 Post by uncle_geoff » Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:54 pm

With no warning the LCD on my X20 decided not to work. The backlight is there, I can turn the contrast up and down and see it brighten and darken. But no images. The external monitor works just fine. I have now reseated the LCD cables to no avail. Very occasionally it will show an image (usually during windows start up) but otherwise nothing, not even the BIOS splash screen. I would think the LCD is faulty apart from the fact it does show an image intermittently.

Any thoughts or comments on this please?
TIA
Geoff

I would check video drivers using an external monitor.

Already confirmed that the external monitor displays correctly. I even replaced the LCD drivers with the Thinkpad version but still no joy ...

It's either the backlight OR the inverter are dead. Try replacing the inverter firstly.
