Which non-Intel mini-PCI card is compatible with X32?

#1 Post by 3to4 » Fri Jan 13, 2006 2:44 am

Well, I am running Windows XP SP1 (clean install) on my X32, but I am getting an "userenv" warning in the event viewer. It seems like this warning comes from "EvtEng", which belongs to Intel Pro 2915ABG adaper. So, I have to use UPHClean, but that's one more process running. This is one reason I feel like changing the wireless adapter. Another reason is, I feel like installing Windows 98SE in dual boot just for the fun of it, but I found out that Intel Pro 2915ABG is compatible only with Windows XP/2000. (All the other pieces of X32 hardware are compatible with Windows 98SE. I know this, because I tried installing Windows 98SE.)
Does someone know of a non-Intel mini-PCI adapter compatible with X32, if possible, which works with Windows 98SE?
Another question, does the no1802 hack work with X32? If yes, this will obviously increase the range of mini-PCI cards I can use.
Incidentally, if there is a way, in the meantime, to get rid of this "userenv" warning, thai will be nice. (Maybe I am the only one getting this warning because of my configuration, though) I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Adapter II. Part # 73P4301. This card is Antheros based and there are drivers for that OS.

I just ordered from NetGate, an Atheros 4G card which claims to be for the IBM's. It's of the type-3B size which I have heard is important? Worth a look, haven't received it yet.

Why did you choose to buy this card instead of the IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad a/b/g Antheros card? Just wondering.

Because I found it on the web at a decent price. I'll admit I did not shop around on EBay or anywhere for these things.

Thank you for the information, but the driver files I have found are for Windows XP/2000. Could you tell me where I can find the driver for W98?
