How to disable internal RAM in X40?

#1 Post by Ani » Thu Jan 19, 2006 7:14 pm

I have an X40 thinkpad laptop and it has bad memory in the internal 256Mb part. I have extra memory installed and I want to disable the internal memory so that my system is stable.

How can I do that?

You can't.
That 256MB is soldered onto the motherboard.
You need to send the system in for repairs.

well yeah, or replace them (by soldering good ones in), cause you can't disable them in BIOS.
if you used linux OS you could try to use some patch thats called like "badmem" or something, which makes the OS avoid using
faulty RAM addresses, which you must first find out using some memtest program that doesn't need any OS and boots like plain code
