Anyone know how to switch the power from outlet to battery?

This is for my x40. Is there a software selection in WinXP or IBM software that lets me select from outlet power to battery instead of the hard way which is pullying the outlet wire out.
Feb 2008=Thinkpad X61s; 2x faster than X40 but not as asthetic.
Dec 2005=Thinkpad X40; perfect, but bigger than 240x.
Jan 2005=Thinkpad 240x; used; fast but dead pixels doomed it.
2003=Thinkpad 240; used,
1998=new Toshiba Tecra 740CDT. Pricey, heavy & last 5 year.

I don't think so but you could plug the adapter into a surge strip with a switch on it, then you could just flip the switch.
