Which battery for X22?

#1 Post by silo » Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:48 am

I'm looking on eBay for a new battery for my X22 and I need to know which battery would be best. There a 4400 a 4000 and they range from $49 down to $24 for what appear to be the same or similar bats.

is there an extended power bat for the X22 and if so how long does it last?

thanks

X22 did not seem to have an extended due to the design.

Well maybe you could do something with the X2 UltraBase like an UltraBay battery? Not sure about that.

The main thing I would look for, is someone that is definitely saying it's NEWLY MANUFACTURED. Not just "never used" or "still in original box". A battery that IBM made in 2000 but has been sitting in a box is not a good battery. These things are like bread, they start going bad the moment they leave the factory. 3-4 years without any use, it'll probably be half-dead.

Thanks for the tip. I tracked down some guy that was getting good reports on the FS forum and asked if he had any IBM Bats for the X22.

Still looking for other recs as to where to get it.

Cheers--

What is the capacity of the OEM 6 cell battery? What about the 4 cell battery?

I see all type of capacity for the X22 batteries, from 3600mAh to 4460mAh. Which is the one to buy? Should I just get the highest capacity possible?

If anyone decides to get one on ebay, would you care to tell us how the battery turned out and the name of the seller? Thanks.

I guess I'll take the dive after I get my X22 and if the battery is in bad condition.

'monsterpowerpro' and 'resurs2' are the two sellers that I'm interesting in checking out since they have good ratings.

I'm trying to avoid the out of the country sellers.

'resurs2' said 'The date of manufacturing is end of 2004 - beginning 2005.'

I'll see what 'monsterpowerpro' says.

resurs has 4400mAh and monsterpro has 4000mAh.

I order a 4400mAh battery from johnxsc. The reason? It was the cheapest one. :) Hopefully it'll arrive early next week.

Hopefully my X22 will arrive too. I'm concerned since the shipper is having shipping problems. :P Hope he's the real deal.

You'll like the X22. I had an X32 and an X22, and found the X22 to be good enough that owning both was rather redundant.

asifish:

Your sig says you have an X22 in an X3 UltraBase? I thought those only fit the X30 series?

I bought a '4400 mAh' battery from 'johnsxc'. :P It's from 9/2001 and the full capacity is only 37.45Wh. Only 1 cycle. The only 'good' thing about the battery is that it's slightly bigger than the original and is a snug fit.

The ORIGINAL battery that came with the laptop was NEWER and HIGHER capacity! :P 43Wh and only 18 cycles.

Not sure what mine is, but it came with the laptop (on eBay) and had zero cycles. Runs for about 4 hours, give or take.

Update on my ebay battery, it's gone down to 29Wh full capacity from it's design capacity of 38Wh. I'm going to write to the seller and see if I can get a replacement. This is really bad. I've had it for less than 1 week and probably charged it 3-4 times.

I've also tried conditioning the battery and doing a full drain. Both don't increase the capacity at all. It's been dropping with every charge. It's supposed to be a '4400' mAh battery too.

Now it's down to 24Wh full capacity. :P

I'm doing a full drain and recharge again. It can do full cpu load for 2hrs and recharge my phones on the USB (5volts). The battery info shows 0% for about 30+. It's still going. It should definitely be more accurate.

I saw the specif. in the botom of my X21 battery and it says 10.8V and 4.0mA. The one that john from Ebay sells is 10.8V and 4.4mA
Would it be harmful to our X20, X21, X22 ?????
