X41T - screen orientation won't rotate

#1 Post by cheeebs » Thu Jan 26, 2006 12:01 pm

my tablet's orientation won't rotate at all, not automatically when i rotate the screen manually, nor will it rotate when i hit the landscape rotation button on the bottom of the lcd panel. it gets me an error:
"The setting you requested cannot be supported. Open Display in Control Panel, adjust the settings, and then ty to change orientation again."

I did check everything in the control panel and all appears normal, allowing and supporting rotations and whatnot. except for one thing. in the control panel i have all the normal links including "Tablet and Pen Settings" which appears normal, and also a link to "Tablet Properties" with an ugly gray icon which says: Error! THE TABLET DRIVER WAS NOT FOUND." when clicked.

however, the pen functionalities appear normal. i can write, draw, and navigate so it seems, just not in portrait mode.

thanks for any advice!

I actually had this exact problem a couple weeks ago. I solved it by going to Intels website and downloading the latest video card drivers. Everything works fine now.

I personally had this problem as well but was able to resolve it. This link has a discussion on this issue:

I had the same problem after restoring Windows to the factory state and uninstalling (what I thought at the time to be) unncessary IBM programs to try and free up some resources. I guess I uninstalled something that controlled the orientation, so I restored Windows again and it worked fine.

Not exactly a solution for you but I thought I would add my experience.

i tried all the advice in this thread. what finally fixed it and KEPT it right after reboots was installing the latest 915GM chipset graphics drivers from intel.com.

thanks for the input.
