X41 Tablet Power Management Issue

I ran the "Perform Reset" option on my X41 Tablet and since then the battery light on the status panel stays on at all times even when the system is shut down and the AC power source is disconnected. The battery continues to discharge when shutdown and the system does not recognise changes in power source (such as unplugging the AC power supply).

I have tried the following without success:

Tried a different battery
Reinstalled all the power management software (including drivers)
Upgraded the BIOS to the latest version
Rebuilt the system (adviced by IBM to do this)
Updated all drivers / utils to the latest version on the IBM site


If anyone has seen this problem I'd appreciate some advice
