I cannot get my X41 Tablet PC to display a 1920x1200 resolution when connected to an external monitor Dell 2405FPW. I installed the monitor driver provided by Dell. The monitor is recognized by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator -- not only that but under 'information' it says that the monitor is capable of showing that resolution (1920x1200). But when I try to set the resolution of the external monitor, the maximum allowed is 1600x1200. I have contacted Intel who claims that their chip could handle such a resolution but that it must be that IBM has not activated this resolution on the VBios.
Any suggestions or success stories with widescreen resolutions for an X41 Tablet?
Thank you

Look here for a solution:

Install the drivers mentioned (I had to do it manually, the setup.exe didn't work) and you will get access to 1280x720 and 1280x768.
You may have to use a utility like Powerstrip to adjust timing to fit your screen.

Re: Widescreen resolution on external monitor X41
Maybe no-one cares about this any more, but despite still running on my original slow HD (i.e. I've not done the SSD upgrade) my X41 is still my main laptop.
Anyway ... I have managed to get my external monitor working at its full native resolution of 1280x768. Many TV stations here in the UK now have a kind of "catch up TV" service whereby you download programs and have a few days to watch them. So it was useful to get the external monitor working properly, especially as most stuff is shown in 16:9 format now. Plus I'm about to replace my CRT TV with an LCD one, and I know I can now use the same method to get that working at a decent resolution too. Enough waffling ...
I downloaded moninfo from http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm.
I ran that, and copied the "Raw Data" set of hex at the bottom of the screen once I'd selected my external monitor in the top left panel.
I downloaded DTD Calculator from http://www.clevertec.co.uk/productsfree.htm.
I followed the instructions from Intel's site http://software.intel.com/en-us/article ... -graphics/, wrote the values to the registry, rebooted and ... nothing. It seems IBM had blocked 1280x768. So I changed the values (the instructions say this might be necessary) to 1281x769, wrote it out again, rebooted and ... it worked!
I can select "1281x769" as a valid resolution now for my external monitor. It works beautifully.
