Cisco systems pci wireless lan adapter and WPA ?
Cisco systems pci wireless lan adapter and WPA ?
Since our administrator at school have desided to use WPA for the wireless network. I kinda have to solve a problem I am having with not being able to connect to the network.
So if anyone have any good idear on how to connect to a WPA network when using an X31 with Cisco adapter, please let me know.
But also let me know if it isn't posible to connect with that adapter.
Thx all

The first thing to check is to see if your wireless card software or windows will let you use WPA encryption with your wireless card. Are you using Windows XP?
X22 - 800mhz - 640MB RAM - 60GB Hitachi 7200rpm 7k100
X40 - 1.4ghz - 1.5GB RAM - 8GB Transcend 300x CF on Addonics CF/IDE Adapter
T42p - 1.8ghz - 15" UXGA - 1GB RAM - 160GB HDD
X61t - C2D 1.6ghz - 12.1" SXGA+ - 8GB RAM - Intel G3 300GB SSD
X40 - 1.4ghz - 1.5GB RAM - 8GB Transcend 300x CF on Addonics CF/IDE Adapter

I'm using XP, and I can sorta find it in windows, however it doesn't seem like I am able to write more then 8 chars, and my shared key is 15 chars long.
And this is all in windows.
In Access Connection I just have NONE, WEP, LEAP, EAP FAST, and let windows control it.
Don't know if that is of any help to you on figuring the problem out.
Thx

Your wireless cisco adapter software apparently doesn't support WPA. You should check for latest software or firmware for the adapter.tadario wrote:I'm using XP, and I can sorta find it in windows, however it doesn't seem like I am able to write more then 8 chars, and my shared key is 15 chars long.

Also you try letting windows control it and configure the windows settings to see if lets you use WPA.
Usually if the adapter software doesn't support WPA, then you are out of luck unless the company decides to be nice and give you new firmware for the adapter to support WPA.

Well windows does let me chose WPA-PSK, however it seems like I can't use a shared-key. And I can't pick WPA-PSK in the AC (access connections).
I'm using driver version 3.8.26 and firmware 5.41. And I believe thats is the latest driver and firmware.
When I downloaded those things (from ibm) it said it did support WPA, but maybe not strong encryptionmode.
But thx borh for giving me some idears on what to look for, and if anyone have any other idears on what might solve the problem, please let me know
Thx
