HD cover on X23

#1 Post by coachMS » Wed Feb 08, 2006 4:48 pm

Hi,

I recently bought a X23 (2662-E5G) on ebay. All is ok except there is no HD cover. I've tried to find such a spare part on ibm web site or thinkpad maintenance specilalized businesses, without succes. Each time I found that platic HD cover comes with the drive itself. Is that true or is it possible to find this small plastic part alone ?

Thanx in advance,
Vincent

bump...

I have the same problem. I bought an X22 on ebay and it is missing the plastic hard drive cover. Does anyone know if the drive cover from another model will work?

I ordered my parts from IBM. it cost 16.00. oem part FRU#12P4178 call 1-800-388-7080. I also ordered the hd caddy and set of two red caps.
I looked up the parts on ebay and elsewhere and yes they are a rip off.
the fit is great but try to find the screws somewhere else they are high,
good luck.

I only saw the HDD cover for sale on ebay once. It was from Australia and it was $21 + $13 shipping. Well, other day I saw one from hong Kong for 9.99, but the shipping....$65. LOL what a rip-off!!!!!!

Thank you guys for sharing useful info here.
best luck for you all.
