what means 1.28 Gb RAM?

#1 Post by dorin » Sun Feb 19, 2006 2:12 am

hi guys,

i want to go from 512ram higher on my X40, but i;m tottaly confused.

i have only one slot where i can add the upgrading ram, but math is confusing:

512+512= 1024gb ram
512+1000= 1512gb ram

so why on my specs says maximum ram is 1.28?!?!?!

thanks,

dorin

For models with 256MB onboard memory, you can add a 1024GB module to max out at 1.28GB total. If you have 512MB onboard, then your max is really 1.5GB.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

hi there,

theorethically you might be right but on x40 lenovo webpage http://www5.pc.ibm.com/uk/products.nsf/ ... ent#memory it is saying
Memory (RAM) std/max: 512MB / 1.28GB
RAM slots total: 1 SODIMM
RAM slots available: 1 SODIMM
RAM speed supported: 333MHz
RAM type: PC2700 DDR SDRAM
so...i do have integrated 512 then why its saying max is 1.28gb!?

thanks!

Some older models have only 256MB onboard, while the newer ones (including mine, 2371-9EU) have 512MB onboard. The 1.28GB stated on the IBM page is probably a typo.
