X41 mouse issues after undock

Here's the setup:

X41 attached to ultrabase.
IBM usb wireless keyboard/mouse attached to ultrabase
Flat panel attached to ultrabase

Here's the issue...

When i undock the x41 from the ultrabase, i get a mouse daemon 98 error and certain windows freeze on me... i can no longer click with the integrated buttons on the x41...i have to reboot to fix...

HOWEVER, i have found... if i open task manager and kill the PELMICED process before undocking, everything works fine...

it is annoying to always having to kill the process before undocking, and sometimes i forget, then causing a reboot to fix...

what is going on here? can i fix this? is there a way to script this?
