X21 - Does it have Infra Red?

I am looking at an x21 (2662-62U). The price is pretty good ($575 CDN w/o optical drive). I did some research, and it appears this unit lacks IR - but the sales dude says it does have it. There is an area on the front left side of the unit that looks like it could be an IR window - but it is black.

I need the IR for a heart rate monitor I use (upload workout data to the PC).

Anyone out there have one of these?

Nope, X20 and X21 don't have IrDA port, only X22/23/24.

OK I just learned how this works, and why some x20/21s are listed as having IR. There is an optional Ultraport ir adapter that snaps on near the thinklight.

After the 21, IBM added ir as stock.

Factor in another $50 for one of these units if you need ir - suddenly the x22, 23 and 24 look more attractive.

Or just buy a $15-20 USB IR adaptor... And, if you NEED it to be UltraPort, the UltraPort is electrically (just not physically) USB, so make an adaptor...
