x32 ultrabase + adaptor = compatible with my ultra slim HD?

#1 Post by steve_zen » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:28 am

hi there, I'm a proud owner of two t42's and was thinking of getting me a x32 just for pure portability.
my main concern is though; I have several ultra-bay slim devices that I'd like to be compatible with my x32, an optical drive (cd-rom) and a hard drive in it's ultra-slim caddy.
I realise that the x32 ultrabase has the Ultrabay 2000 slot which needs the Ultrabay Slim Drive Adapter (62P4557) for this to work.
although from what I've read over at the lenevo site, they only mention this being compatible with optical drives.

is this the case or will it also work with my ultra-bay slim hard drive
thanks :)

unfortunately there is a plastic notch and a metal pin on the adapter which fit into the optical drives - there are no holes on the second hdd adapter for these to fit so it is not compatible with the drive adapter. It is purely a physical thing - the connected etc should work. I have though about making some holes in my hdd adapter so it will fit which would be useful so I only have to carry one hdd adapter for all recent ThinkPads; I think it would be fairly straightforware and would work but i've not tried it yet.
