My X31 Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter powers off spontaneously after about two minutes. It takes a FN-F5 to bring it back up. Is there a time out setting I should be looking for? Card replacement? Still under warranty.
Thanks

It's even easier to get some information here before I call tech support.
Thanks.

please have a look into numerous posts about WiFi.

Your OS miss a service called "Windows Wireless Zero Configuration Service , and on top there is Access Connections - therefore, both app's fight for the wireless card. Stop the service and enjoy the wireless ride.

Sorry for my very brief statement, I was writing late at night on my tablet using handwriting recognition.

Ok, so more detailed explanation:

I would like to ask you to check following:

- go to services in the "Manage My Computer" dialog. (right mouseclick on My Computer)

- check whether the "Wireless Zero Configuration Service" is running and starting "automatically". Set to "Manual" start and stop the service.

- check again, whether Your Wireless connection is being disabled after some time, typically 30 secs to 2 minutes.

Background: mismatches of status information (wireless on / off, connected, disconnected") and dropping connections mainly results from interfering of AC with this service. After disabling this service, AC works smoothly.

IBM seems to have lost ability to switch off or orderly manage this service, which appears again after Windows Updates in the OS image.

After this basic test, other root causes for your problem might apply. As long as you use AC, this service is of no need, the only thing you loose is the ability to set up wireless connections with the Windows GUI - but you have AC instead.

Gerdh...that seems to have taken care of my problem. I disabled Wireless Zero two days ago and all is well...
Thanks
