I have a x41. I have a 60GB HD, but when my computer came, it had about 30GB worth of stuff already installed. Should I reformat the laptop to get rid of all the extra lenovo/ibm software? What do you guys recommend. I have an external drive, but its only to backup stuff.

30GB sounds like an awful lot of stuff, there was not nearly as much on my X41, bought in September (but made in May 2005). I mean, the preinstalled software is the same that is stored on the hidden recovery partition, and that one is "only" about 4GB. Or has Lenovo changed/bloated that much in the last months - my software set is still pure IBM?
Maybe you habe a lot of backups on the disk, created automatically by R&R? If so, then that's something that can be cut down a lot, I think.

Check your Rescue and Recovery I bet you have several backups there.
I have alot of Data on mine including several Virtual PC's (yes on a tablet no less) and i still have 19 gigs free out of 60.
Oh and i am running the Lenovo/Thinkvantage software on mine.
Full MS Office Suite, including Visio and One note, Autocad, Solidworks, a SQL server (i leave that off untill i need it) and MS .NET with the MSDN. so go figure....i do not use rescue and recovery myself.
IN USA.
